RALLY 4 READING RECAP

We had a great Rally 4 Reading Month! As a school we read 1,721 hours, filled our "bookshelves" with more of our favorite books, played Reading Challenge Bingo and had so much fun at the Rally 4 Reading Celebration Event.

We are so proud of all the reading you did this month! Thank you for participating in the Rally 4 Reading activities and for encouraging kids to get excited about reading.

Come see Matoska students perform in The Rainbow Fish. Based on the international bestseller and award-winning book, The Rainbow Fish, with its wonderful message of friendship and belonging, come see the magical and colorful world of the deep blue sea come to life before your eyes. Performances will be at Hanifl Theatre.

Thursday, May 2nd - 5:00 PM

Saturday, May 4th - 11:00 AM

Sunday, May 5th - 11:00 AM

IB INQUIRERS

Hello, Matoska families~

This month, you can watch a brief (3 minute) video that explains our IB Program of Inquiry. This is the way we organize our learning in an IB school. Every grade level learns about each IB theme in each year (with the except of kindergarten which covers 4 of the themes), and students deepen their understanding of the concepts within each theme each year.

Coming soon in 5th grade: Exhibition!

Exhibition is the independent inquiry project that all 5th graders complete in the spring. This is a culmination of their IB learning and may incorporate any of the concepts already learned throughout the program of inquiry, depending on students’ choice of topics. This is a challenging and exciting time for our oldest learners, and truly a celebration of learning. Images below depict some of the organization elements that teachers will be introducing soon.

If you have any questions about our program of inquiry, please contact me. Or, if there are particular aspects of our IB school that you would like to learn more about in this column, please let me know!
