IB INQUIRERS

A note from Julie Stonehouse

Hello, Matoska families!

This month, using the code below or this link, you can watch a brief (3 minute) video that explains our Approaches to Learning skills. These are the 5 sub-skill sets that help our students learn how to learn. Those sub-skill sets include thinking skills, research skills, communication skills, social skills, and self-management skills.

Spotted in 3rd grade:

Celebrations at the conclusion of a knowledge unit. These celebrations are a really positive way for students to review and reflect (thinking skills) on what they have learned, in an environment that gives them opportunities to share (communication skills) and collaborate together (social skills).

And all of this activity, of course, is great practice of those important self-management skills. Pictured below are a few images from the Human Body Bonanza and the Terrific Toga Tuesday celebrations. As you can see from the photo of Mr. John, the enthusiasm is contagious!

If you have any questions about our Approaches to Learning skills, please contact me. Or, if there are particular aspects of our IB school that you would like to learn more about in this column, please let me know!
